Custos IPC
A patent attorney firm with members
Octrooibureau Custos IPC is a collective of patent attorneys. We stand for innovation and believe in doing things differently. The members form our cooperative; as an independent patent attorney, you are a member of Custos IPC. This model was chosen in the conviction that people should be empowered. Do what you are good at and become even better at it. With this philosophy, we serve companies with a high degree of innovation.

Our members are experienced and driven patent attorneys, each with their own area of expertise. As a member, you can collaborate with like-minded individuals, with fellow professionals, exchange ideas and learn from each other. This happens through collaboration for clients, during intervisions, and at member days which are held several times a year. On these occasions, we catch up at an interesting location, there is regularly an interesting content-related segment, and we enjoy some food and drinks.
Working method
What's it like at Custos IPC? As we've said before, we stand for innovation and a different approach to things. We believe in a proactive approach and truly prioritise the client's best interests. As a patent bureau, we have a presence in many places. Directly and indirectly.
This is partly thanks to a wonderful network of strategic partners that we have created. Lawyers, tax advisors, accountants, product designers and subsidy advisors, but also investors, incubators, universities and various knowledge institutions.
All commercial endeavours give rise to client needs. Substantive IP issues that our members can get their teeth into. This could be a patent application, an opposition, a second opinion, or a structural in-house IP management assignment. Small, large, short-term, long-term; depending entirely on the client's needs. To guarantee the quality of our service, we always work with a four-eyes principle. This therefore means that you always collaborate with other members.
Members can also submit their own assignments to the cooperative. You will often carry out these assignments yourself, but it can also happen that an assignment submitted by one member is carried out by another member. For example, because it involves a slightly different technical background, or because a member simply doesn't have the time or capacity for it at that moment. We work with a margin structure that takes all commercial scenarios into account. The agreements are clear to everyone involved, as they have been approved at the General Members' Meeting. And a good price-quality ratio for clients is always maintained.
Custos IPC has a skilled Formalities team led by co-founder Christine Portier. The use of professional IT systems ensures all submissions and administrative processes are securely managed.
In short, as a member of Custos IPC, you know you have support at all times, both on the ‘front end’ (commercial aspects) and the ‘back end’ (formalities). This allows you to focus entirely on what you do best: your substantive work as a patent attorney.
