Knowledge sharing by our IP specialists
As IP specialists (experts), we never tire of talking about Intellectual Property. Insights, practical experience, issues and interesting details: there is always plenty to talk about. In our Collective Memory a lot of information is available. From comprehensive analyses to short articles. Below are two random examples from this knowledge collection.
Is it difficult to obtain a patent?
It can be challenging because of multiple steps and stringent requirements, but at Custos IPC we like to unburden. Your invention must be novel, inventive (not obvious) and industrially applicable. Demonstrating this is our specialism. The application requires a good technical description, drawings and legally correct claims - all customised work. The patent office carries out a novelty search and you will discuss any objections with the examiner. With the right support from the start, anything is possible. Learn more.
How do you apply for a patent in the Netherlands?
The Dutch patent process starts with a preliminary search in databases such as Espacenet to check whether your invention already exists. You then prepare a detailed description with drawings. After submission to Octrooicentrum Nederland, a formal check follows (no substantive assessment). A novelty search is carried out and after 18 months your application is published. For international protection, you can go to the European Patent Office or via PCT. A patent attorney can offer valuable advice during this process. Learn more.
